The "Korean heritage" of the Hyundai Elantra is immediately apparent from its exterior design. The overall body looks mild and delicate, but the redesigned front end has a very aggressive look. Two pronounced lines on the hood extend forward to a small but prominent grille, giving a strong forward thrust impression. The redesigned wedge-shaped headlights are sportier and more aggressive compared to the Sonata's peanut-shaped ones. The headlights even adopt a "fog black" effect, making them resemble modified versions, though the grille appears somewhat cramped due to the headlights. The multifaceted rear shape resembles that of the Buick Excelle (which is essentially the Daewoo Nubira), possibly because of similar aesthetic standards between Koreans or a preference for Italian designers by Korean companies—this remains unclear.
